KNOWLEDGE VOLUNTEERING - RAC

This area of action seeks to make the experience of Camilo José Cela University staff and students available to society. With the aim of putting into practice the knowledge generated within the UCJC at the service of society, thus obtaining a true learning experience.

Within this initiative, different collaborations with NGOs have been launched:

PSE – POR LA SONRISA DE UN NIÑO

The UCJC Foundation collaborates with the Por la Sonrisa de un Niño NGO in its School Continuity Programme in Cambodia, which aims to prevent children from returning to garbage dumps during their holiday period and at the same time preventing school dropouts.

In this case, expert teachers from the fields of nursing, psychology and sports sciences come together to give a Volunteer Training Course, which allows coordinators and volunteers on the programme to develop the necessary skills to face the reality of volunteering in Cambodia.

Since 2017, a fund-raising hot chocolate party has been organised at the UCJC Villafranca Campus for PSE. We can proudly say that our educational community is committed to today’s society and concerned about the problems that threaten developing countries and disadvantaged people.

VICENTE FERRER FOUNDATION

Foundation UCJC collaborates with the Vicente Ferrer Foundation (FVF), committed since 1969 to the process of transforming rural areas in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana (south-east India).

For the third consecutive year, Beatriz Lara, a Sports Science teacher, this time accompanied by a student from her degree as part of the foundation’s knowledge volunteering scheme, took part in the ‘1km 1 vida’ project, Anantapur Ultramarathon, held in January 2019 by the Vicente Ferrer Foundation.  Added to this great achievement was her participation in an inclusive race that unites children from the community and runners, as well as giving a talk on the value of sport and healthy living.
